Question about Text Books

I'm going to be a freshman in the fall and I was curious as to when I should buy my text books? My older siblings advised me to wait until after the course starts to buy my books, but since neither of them when to Buff State I was wondering what would be suggested here? I just want to be prepared, but some of the text books are so expensive I didn't want to jump the gun and waste my money.
So, should I wait until the course starts or should I get them now?
